This Privacy Notice tells you what to expect us to do with your personal information.

We collect or use the following information to provide the TachoQuiz service:

  • Username and email address
  • Account information
  • Technical information required for the secure operation of the website, including session and CSRF security information
  • Browser timezone information used to display dates and times appropriately for you
  • Quiz activity and results, including quiz category, score, number of questions and completion date/time

We collect or use the following information for the operation of customer accounts:

  • Username and email address
  • Account information, including registration details and a securely hashed version of your password
  • Information used for security purposes

3. Lawful bases and data protection rights

Under UK data protection law, we must have a lawful basis for collecting and using your personal information.

Your data protection rights may include:

  • Your right of access – You have the right to ask us for copies of your personal information.
  • Your right to rectification – You have the right to ask us to correct personal information you think is inaccurate or complete information you think is incomplete.
  • Your right to erasure – You have the right to ask us to delete your personal information in certain circumstances.
  • Your right to restriction of processing – You have the right to ask us to restrict the processing of your personal information in certain circumstances.
  • Your right to object to processing – You may have the right to object to the processing of your personal information in certain circumstances.
  • Your right to data portability – You may have the right to ask that we transfer personal information you provided to another organisation, or to you.
  • Your right to withdraw consent – Where we rely on consent as our lawful basis, you have the right to withdraw your consent at any time.

If you make a data protection rights request, we will respond without undue delay and in any event within one month, subject to applicable data protection law.

4. Our lawful bases for using your information

We rely on Contract where processing your personal information is necessary to provide the TachoQuiz service that you request when you create and use an account.

This includes processing information necessary to create and operate your account, authenticate you, maintain your session, provide quiz functionality, display dates and times appropriately for you, and store and display your quiz history.

We also process information where necessary to maintain the security and integrity of your account and the TachoQuiz service. Where this processing is necessary for us to provide the service under our terms, we rely on Contract.

5. Where we get personal information from

We obtain personal information directly from you when you create and use your account. We also collect or generate limited technical information automatically when you use TachoQuiz, including information needed to operate your session and your browser timezone.

6. How long we keep information

We keep your account information for as long as your TachoQuiz account remains active. If you choose to delete your account, your account information and associated quiz history will be deleted from the active TachoQuiz database.

Quiz results, including quiz category, score, number of questions and completion date and time, are kept for as long as your account remains active so that we can provide your quiz history. These results are deleted when your account is deleted.

Session information used to keep you signed in, support the secure operation of the website, remember your browser timezone and temporarily maintain your quiz progress and selected answers is configured to expire after 14 days.

Records relating to data protection rights requests or data protection complaints are kept only for as long as reasonably necessary to handle the request or complaint, demonstrate how it was handled, comply with applicable legal obligations, or establish, exercise or defend legal claims.

We review the personal information we hold and delete or anonymise information when it is no longer required for the purposes for which it was collected.

7. Who we share information with

DigitalOcean, LLC

DigitalOcean provides cloud hosting and infrastructure services used to host the TachoQuiz application and store and process user account information and quiz activity data.

Resend (Plus Five Five, Inc.)

Resend provides transactional email delivery services used by TachoQuiz, including password reset and other account-related emails. This may involve processing users' email addresses, email metadata and information contained in transactional email messages.

Cloudinary

Cloudinary provides cloud-based media storage and delivery services used by TachoQuiz to store and serve category images. When these images are displayed, the user's browser may connect directly to Cloudinary's infrastructure to retrieve them.

8. Sharing information outside the UK

Where necessary, our data processors may process or transfer personal information outside the UK. Where this occurs, appropriate safeguards are used in accordance with applicable UK data protection law.
